Take the historic railbus from Lübeck to Neumünster

Schönberg: Rides on a railbus of the Historic Railway Holstein Switzerland eV are always an experience! Join us on Saturday, May 23rd. with the historic MAN railbus from Lübeck via Malente-Gremsmühlen through the Holstein Switzerland region past Kiel through the Eider Valley to the Neumünster cultural locomotive shed .

The destination is the former Neumünster locomotive depot, which in recent years has been transformed into an attractive railway operating and event venue by volunteers from the "Interessengemeinschaft KulturLokschuppen Neumünster" (Neumünster Cultural Locomotive Shed Interest Group). We travel past the passenger station directly to the depot grounds. Here, several heritage railway associations showcase their historic railway vehicles in a lively museum setting.

A highlight of the trip is the encounter with the express steam locomotive 01 1104, also known as 012 104-6, owned by the Faszination Dampf e.V. (Fascination Steam Association), which, after a 15-year restoration, has been captivating railway enthusiasts in Germany since 2023. It arrives from Neumünster station and then proceeds onto the historic ballast turntable to be turned in the correct direction for the return journey. Further maintenance work for the "Queen of the Rails" is also on the agenda.

Departure from Lübeck is at 10:47 am, from Malente at 11:24 am.

The return journey departs from the Kulturlokschuppen at 5:30 pm; we reach Malente at 7:05 pm, and are back in Lübeck at 7:41 pm.
