Nuremberg: Just in time for the start of the school holidays, the St. Peter Historic Tram Depot of the VAG Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft Nuremberg will reopen its doors. In addition to the vintage vehicles, various exhibitions, and tours, the focus this coming weekend, August 2nd and 3rd, 2025 , between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., will be on model railways in various gauges. Members of the Friends of the Nuremberg-Fürth Tramway Association and affiliated clubs will be exhibiting their treasures in the museum hall and the adjacent conference room. The nostalgic Straßaboh Café, with its delicious food, provides the perfect place to relax. All information about the depot weekend can be found at www.vag.de/museum.

Discovery tour to Erlangen in a vintage bus
In November 1925, the first intercity bus service from Nuremberg to Erlangen began operating. Buses on this route started at Jagdstraße in Nuremberg and ran along the old Erlangen Reichsstraße 4 through villages such as Buch, Reutles, and Tennenlohe to the Old Town Church Square, today's Martin Luther Square. Reason enough to explore this route on a vintage bus and, at the same time, take a look at the route of the future city-suburban railway.
Two of the three discovery tours next Sunday, August 3, are already sold out. However, there are still seats available at 10:30 a.m. from the St. Peter Depot. The nearly two-hour trip costs €16.00, including a soft drink. Reservations are strongly recommended. Call +49 911 283-4646 or visit event.vag.de/rundfahrten
Round trips with line 15
For those more into trams, we recommend a tour of Nuremberg on the vintage tram line 15, complete with a city commentary. It runs throughout the weekend from the Historic Tram Depot to the Plärrer, via the Main Station and the Documentation Center, and back to the museum. Tours depart hourly from the Historic Tram Depot between 10:20 a.m. and 4:20 p.m., and from the Main Station between 10:55 a.m. and 4:55 p.m., also hourly.
To participate in the tours, you need to purchase a ticket for €12.00 for adults or €7.00 for children. Family tickets cost €26.00 – each ticket includes free admission to the Historic Tram Depot.
Opening hours and admission prices
The St. Peter's Historic Tram Depot, with its nostalgic "Straßaboh" Café, is open for tours on Saturdays and Sundays between 10:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Last admission at Schloßstraße 1 is at 5:00 p.m. Admission is €6.50 for adults and €3.50 for children up to 14 years old.
