The Berlin S-Bahn Museum is unique!

It was founded on February 10, 1989. Since then, many members of the German Railway Customers' Association (Deutscher Bahnkunden-Verband e. V.) have been working purely on a voluntary basis on the design of the collection, its presentation, and ensuring the opening days.

In 1985, the first exhibition of what would later become the S-Bahn Museum was established in a small space at the Berlin Passenger Association's passenger center in Beusselstraße station. In 1997, the museum moved to larger premises in the substation of the Griebnitzsee S-Bahn station. This move to Brandenburg underscored the renewed importance of the Berlin S-Bahn to the surrounding region. Unfortunately, the exhibition had to close at the end of 2016/beginning of 2017 due to the termination of the lease because of fire safety regulations. Since then, the museum has been searching for new premises. Since mid-2023, with the support of the Berlin Senate Chancellery and DB Infrago, we have been operating a project space ("Museum light") at Berlin Ostbahnhof (East Station) and are currently exhibiting a small selection of our artifacts there.
